Famously Hawick - All in One Town

https://www.famouslyhawick.co....

If you love the finer things done properly, point your day toward Famously Hawick - a curated collective of five premium makers in the Scottish Borders: Johnstons of Elgin, Hawico, William Lockie, Lovat Mill, and The Borders Distillery. Within the span of Hawick’s historic bridges you can watch world-class textiles being crafted, browse refined retail spaces, and step behind the scenes of the Borders’ first working whisky distillery since 1837. It’s a rare blend of heritage, craftsmanship, and quietly confident service - no rush, no gimmicks, just best-in-class Scottish making.

How to experience it well:
Book a guided Johnstons of Elgin mill tour to see cashmere and fine woollen fabrics woven at source, then stroll to Lovat Mill“Home of Tweed” and the knitwear houses (Hawico and William Lockie) for timeless pieces that wear beautifully. Round off the day at The Borders Distillery with a one-hour tour and tasting (typically Mon–Sat at 11:00, 13:00, 15:00 from April–October; advance booking recommended). If you prefer everything arranged, Famously Hawick can coordinate introductions across all five venues so your visit flows.

Sustainability sits alongside luxury here: partners champion responsible sourcing and local production-cashmere spun and knitted in Hawick, and spirits distilled using barley grown within easy reach of town. Provenance isn’t a slogan; it’s the operating system.

For current tour times, special events and booking, see the official Famously Hawick website (check before you travel, as hours can be seasonal and some sites are working mills).

At a glance: Johnstons of Elgin (mill tours & store), Hawico (luxury cashmere), William Lockie (heritage knitwear), Lovat Mill (tweed), The Borders Distillery (tours & tasting).
